    Beautiful leather armchair, bought from France antiquities market. Dealer said the chair was made ??circa 1850. What do you think, Is it true?

      It's a.voltaire style chair named after the French writer Voltaire. They were made in France and the style is very French for that period I.e low, high backrest and cuffs on the arms. Furthermore, the carving would also be fitting for a Louis-Philippe.period chair and the seller told you, 1850 which would be correct aswell.
      Some of these chairs even had levers in the arms to adjust the position.
      Can't tell you if it's a real antique from your picture, I'm not a pro but if it was.a.reputable.dealer,.it's real. The stamps and things maybe burried under the frame. A nice chair!
