I found this neat little box at GW. It's called a pillow boy. Something to do with being modeled after a head rest used while reclining in an opium den. I don't think you'd want to rest your head on this piece though. It's way too small and fragile. I guess they made huge versions at one time. This one is only 9" long and 6" high. It makes a great trinket box though. The colors are bright but there is a slight crazing to the whole piece. I think it's intentional as this looks way too new to have occurred naturally. It's marked "HR" Hand Painted in Hong Kong-Blank Earthenware Made in Japan. So definitely new or newish. Found one like it online but of course it sold so no clue as to the value. They remove the prices once items sell. Still pretty cool though . -Mike-
