I was tickled over this little treasure I found! It only stood not quite at 2 inches I believe. (I don't have it anymore) I loved the colors, the deep orange and blue with the gold highlights were amazing. I don't know much about porcelain, china or ceramic. It was stamped Rosenthal Bavaria and Kurt Wendler. Although I was familiar with Rosenthal I had never heard of Kurt Wendler. I knew I liked this piece and really enjoyed the detail of the elephant of the hand painted elephant. I also appreciated that something so delicate as this didn't have any chips or scratches or dinks.
So, out came my books and the laptop keys tapping. I found the name o fit and saw the other pieces painted in a similar way (no elephant) a big foot jungle monster though.
I found this was part of Wendler's Indra Porcelain Designs. To name a few, this design also includes a Gazelle, Plant/ Cactus?, Pagoda and some kind of kraken-monkey-creature". These designs were first presented at the Leipzig fair in 1919, by Phillip Rosenthal himself. The vases are quite valuable if found in tact. (same as anything else) .
