Steamer Trunk

This trunk was in a garage of a customer and in the process of my several visits to the home I made a couple comments about the piece. At the completion of the job, the elderly couple asked if I would like to have it. I of course said I did and asked "how much"? He then said, "as a gift". The gentleman told me that they had it for years and had started to strip it, in the hopes of completely re-doing the piece. Once started, it never was finished and it had been just "taking up space" and was actually in the way. They gave it to me "as is" and 10 years later it's still in that same "as is" condition. I use it as a coffee table in my den.
