Here is another nice example of brilliant jewelry designer Jakob Bengel's work. I like the elegant association of chrome and black glass beads in this necklace (total length: 56 cm= approx. 22"). The chrome is a bit corroded in places, but it is still very wearable.
I found it at a yard sale for 13 euros, but sshh, this is a secret... ;)
Wonderful! How would I know one of these were maid of him if I ever come across one? Are they marked?
Hi! Thank you. No unfortunatly, most of them aren't marked (a few of them are marked "guarantie" on the clasp). But the style is very recognizable. I carefully examined Bengel's jewelry on Sheryl's Art Deco website (http://www.sheryls-artdeco.co.uk/bengelnecks1.html). Go take a look: it is a great reference!
Thank you very much Betty for the great information!
Betty after your advice I found a necklace that I bought. I believe it's art deco machine age but don't know the origin of it. If you feel like it I would be greatful for your opinion on it. Have a nice weekend :)
By the way, I loved the page you refered to. Me bying the necklace was because I like the style. If it's not a Bengel one that fine :)
You are now the proud owner of a Jakob Bengel necklace, Elizabethan: congratulations! And have a nice weekend too! :)
Thankyou so much Betty! For taking the time to have a look at my post and to coment. I will watch your posts some more and hope you find some more Bengel pieces in the future :)
You're welcome. It is my pleasure to share my humble knowledge and to learn from others... Bye for now!
