It's an airplane style jig most often used ice fishing for lake trout (mackinaws). They will weigh from 1/8oz up to 2oz. Many ice fishermen will tip them with a hunk of minnow and jig them. They will 'fly' in circle as they are dropped back down.
They are made by a number of mfrs. This one looks like it could be a Northland Tackle Co., Bemidji, MN but the term 'airplane jig' is generic to this style jig. The color indicates a newer jig. Most in the past were white, silver, gold or plain lead.
I've got a couple of rods that maybe you can help me with. Email me for details.
finchave: we use jigs very similar to this for jigging for Whitefish in Lake Huron-usually in more subdued colors.
Thanks babyboomerwil7 and BELLIN68.
