These are the types of letters I used to get from my Great Uncle Frank. I finally got around to posting them.
Anytime we went to their home or they came to ours, there was always a letter that was soon to follow.
The reason behind the 2nd one is this, I know I was in grade school and had heard a joke I can never forget, thanks to this letter...I asked my aunt and uncle why the blue elephant had 3 white shoes and 1 yellow one?
The answer was, because he forgot to lift his leg! Dumb, I know but all the adults laughed and this is the letter I got afterwards.
The 4th letter is actually written backwards, when I opened it I read it just as it is without holding it up to a mirror. I'm pretty sure my mom told them that on the way to their house, my brother asked why the word 'ambulance' was written backwards on the front of the van, to me it was logical so I said, so you can read it in the rearview mirror! I remember seeing everyone's shocked faces as they looked at each other. What? It was the only logical answer, right?!
P.S. I've had these since the 60's...
Enjoy!
beautiful!!! :)
Thank you nutsy, yes he was always so kind. I miss him and my aunt as well. They've been gone for awhile but left lots of good memories! He was also a great photographer too...I'll post pics later. Thanks again!
Thanks to you too Sean!
Sue I am speechless about these and no wonder you have kept them!
What a clever at incredible person your uncle was. He must have seemed so magical to you.
Unforgettable memories here.
Marvelous! You were very fortunate to have such a splendid Uncle! : D
Yes Karen, you are right on the money there...tears came to my eyes when I read your comment! So soft spoken and such a joy to be around. I suppose he was my hero! He taught me how to paint with cut potatoes when I was real young...for sure this is where my artistic creativity is from.
Thank you miKKo for your kind comment, and you are right too, I was very fortunate and still feel that way for having such a great example to look up to!
Thank you agh for your love, back at you for sure!
