I see no makers mark on this piece anywhere. Cranes and Scenery on one side, I think that's a phoenix dragon on the other side.
Folds just like a regular fan does, staying open or closed. I've tested it to see if it's gold but I'm really not sure, does not tarnish and it's very well made.
Funny thing is that I've had one exactly like it before and gave it to a friend that moved away. Years later, this one pops up...from who knows where!
Does anyone recognize this or know where it's from?

I had one like this.....I still may have it in my other (older) Jewelry box tucked away. I know I wore mine around the late 70's/ early 80's on a chain. Mine was the same I am sure. Can't help with maker...but maybe the date.
Will see IF I can find mine here...might take me a couple days to get that done....LOL
Not gold, but still a nice piece.

Nice piece I like fans. You made a comment that you thought my Amber pin 835 with a fish after it you thought might be gold but when it is polished it looks very silver to me but I'm not a expert on anything learning all I can. The Amber pin is on site & so are the earrings that have A.K I believe for Anna Klein I think that is the spelling. Would love to know more about the pin as I don't wear it, it may just have to go also we will see
Thanks Zowie. I have been dealing with jewelry for a long time now and don't necessarily remember the 835, but that day I commented I saw on-line saying it was gold. After I posted that, I had second thoughts, as in that's got to be silver! If it's Ann Kline, surely it would be silver, IMHO. Back in the day, it just seems there was no question, now with all the tech stuff, you almost have to question everything. I'll take a peek at it again and see what I can find.
Really tho, I think my computer has got a mind of it's own and goes where it wants, when it wants. And always against my wants!!!
I like fans too, this one's gotta go tho I do have it hanging. I've got some old fans somewhere from the 60's packed away. I'll get them posted to show you soon as this heat lets up some...it's hitting 97 degrees in the house right now!!! UGH!!!

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly it's the earrings with the A.K on them it's the brooch that has 835 with the fish after it. I not sure if I have taken a photo of the back of the pin. It sure is hot there & working it's way here, try & keep cool & as for laptops or computers for having minds of there own they sure have it's put me in a few positions I could of done without at times as some people do not have a clue what I'm talking about that's the first clue something is wrong then I feel really bad because I really don't like to upset anyone. Have a great day. It's 3am here normal for me. I'm hoping to see if I can put some more things down sometimes it lets me then other times no hope in hell excuse the pun.
Zowie, mine has been doing the same thing. I don't know if this will help you but I hope so, if the problem is when you go to add your photos you have clicked and you think your options are not there, just hit the minimize box in the top left corner,( if your on windows 8 I wouldn't know where that is) your options to choose the file are there, but if like mine have been, they just don't pop up usual as a front page. That's about as much sense I can make right now and hope you understand it. I know it's time for me to clean out the dust from the computer too.
I'm self taught & know very little lingo just battle through but thanks for the tip I'll see if I can work it out. I also noticed that the Amber brooch is a nicer red then the earrings it's deeper. I'll keep trying

I had one while living in hong kong. Chinese fan. 1970's. Xoxox
This fan pendant is likely from Japan. The scene with the storks on pine boughs with what looks like Mt. Fiji in the distance is the clue. Mt. Fiji is an important part of Japanese culture. There are Phoenixes in Japanese culture as well, thought to originate from China. Nicely made gold tone over a base metal.
