I have this 8/20/45 issue of Newsweek and also the same date in the weekly magazine, "Time". Japan had given up after almost 5 years of fighting the United States. My father battled them directly under General Douglas MacArthur for the entire war. Glad he made it back for his sake and of course for my sake as well.
