I found this old bottle at an old farm house. It still has a liquor tax stamp on it. Not sure how old it is or if it has any value.

This is a "gift decanter" usually offered around Christmas time - they are shown in advertisements I found from 1948 and 1949 but there is another reference as early as 1942. - The tax stamp is also circa late 1940's - values cannot be discussed on this site
That is great information. Thank you!
Ripley is right on the mark if you want to date the actual sale date of the product which can be done by the tax stamp (and also the state it was sold in). The actual decanter bottle may have been made for several years. The 1948 advertisement shows it in it's original gift box - incidentally, these bottles when sold had a plain cork stopper and the fancy glass top one was separate in the box to be used once the original stopper was removed.
Do the numbers on the bottom of the bottle mean anything? D-8 66-47
Meriah - Just an assumption - but the 47 is probably the date code for 1947
-Ripley, I was also trying to date by retail by use of printed advertisements which I found for both 1948 and 1949 - basically we could call this circa mid-century - too bad it's empty ;)
Ripley - I only saw these in a 1948 and 1949 advertisement (it is listed on ebay), the 1942 date I referenced in comment #1 was rechecked and it actually says "whiskey distilled in 1942 and bottled in 1948" - I'm going to check the CW decanter category, maybe others have been posted.
I know your not suppose discuss values on this site but any suggestions on where I could go to find out?
