The find of the weekend no doubt. This is a large standing, or possibly hanging single cabinet. On original hinges, never touched, i think. Key hole closure, in original barn red milk paint. The door frames are through cut mortise and tenon joints secured by a single wooden pin, as you can see in picture 3. I looks to be signed in pencil on the inside of the door. I cannot tell if it is 1809, or 1869, but it looks like a really nice piece could be here. The nails are square headed nails which appear to be cast, not cut. Again, I need help to verify this assumption, please feel free to comment. Thanks!

Looks like the top or bottom of a two piece. Does it have a base to it that is similar to the top? I cannot see the bottom very well in the first photo.

Also do the back boards extend above the top or do you have some old boards behind the piece?

I'd like to see an interior image, but would agree that on first look it is late 19th century.

hey scott thanks for chiming in, to answer your questions:

no, the base is very thin, not similar to the top. The back boards do extend above the top. The back boards are made of two very wide pieces. Will post some more pics.
