Here are some scans from a 1962 Brunswick booklet issued to promote bowling. It uses the fictitious Martin family to provide guidance for bowling dress, shoes, etiquette, as well as operational aspects like scoring and dealing with various spares situations. I chose to include the pages with some of the year's ball selections. Love how the ladies' ball is "refreshing...(in) powder blue and white."
Although published in 1962, it has more of a 1950's vibe to it. Still, it's only the second year of the decade so this is understandable. It seems unreal to me, looking at the figures and the situations. Perhaps it's because all I know from that era is from TV shows and movies. It's almost like the 50's only existed as a postwar dream. A type and stereotype unto itself. Somewhere, out there in interstellar space, among humankind's electromagnetic radio and television emissions, the Martins are still bowling, bowling their way to Andromeda.
VERY COOL!!
