OK.. This one.. What the? It is an old stuffed doll.. Don't know if it is political or other.. ???? Bought it an an estate sale where I also purchased an old dresser 1910's and a salt glaze ginger jar.. (listing next as unknown).. Says Ma Cullen on the back of the neck.. Just thought it was too interesting to pass up.. Anybody??? Nothing found from online research..
Almost looks like Mr. Peanut??? Wait, is that the right name???
I know.. right? checked that one out.. and then thought it was political.. does not figure so far.... Thanks, shareurpassion.. :)
I believe it is home made from a pre printed panel and person that made it also did the painting between lines on fabric
Lithograph printed dolls - litho dolls - were often sold by the yard off the bolt in flat form. Mama or grandma or the child could stitch up a serviceable plaything quickly and easily. In addition to a lifelike face, clothing or undergarments were frequently part of the printed design. Maybe Charlie Mcarthy ?
Or Charlie Chaplin ?
Yes I would say Charlie Chaplin :-))
You know what.. after seeing your expertise here.. I am going to go with your thought of Charlie Chaplin.. rather than Charlie McCarthy.. Still trying to find exact pattern.. :| Determined.. :)
Thought Charlie McCarthy as your prior suggestion.. monacle.. bowtie.. ? Would think I would be able to find the exact pattern.. but not so far.. I always want to find exact match.. to figure out what it is .. maker. year.. So many items hard to "nail" .. :)
