this painting hung in our living room over the sofa..the only info I have is it was purchased new in 1967 in Brooklyn nyc at a custom furniture store the price was 125.00.. I always thought It was so cool cause it has places that light up ..but what can you do with it today?? and it is signed by the artist martino who ever he is
the size is huge 74x36 it seems to made of paint and gesso used on Masonite board the frame is gold leaf solid wood..not sure if its acrylic or oil and the places that light are blue glass with tiny bulbs behind them to look like out door lamp posts which illuminate the painting .. makes it kind of cool but I quess today would be considered tacky
I have an almost identical one! I inherited it from my grandparents (loved it as a kid). I just bought replacement bulbs for it today. Some of the details are different bu the scene is the same.
It's really fascinating to see yours. As I compare the two - it's about 90% identical. The trees on the far left are different and the lightpost on the right has more light openings on yours.
I'm so glad I found this site and that there is someone else that has this. It makes perfect sense that it was bought to coordinate with the furniture as I have the provincial set as well.
Would love to see a photo of yours
I just uploaded mine and and a pic of both of ours so you can compare :-) http://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/176849-1960s-lake-como-painting-with-lights-beh
