This item was found in the summer kitchen of a very old Bucks County, Pennsylvania, farmhouse I lived in back in the early '70s. Someone told me it was an antique corn sheller, but I've never seen anything like this before. It's wood and metal and is about 13 inches long.
washboard ? is it all wood

sorry wood and metal - still possible a washboard ?
pretty rough for a washboard... maybe part of a mold for cigars or cigarettes?
I don't think it's a washboard. It's about half the length of the one in the link you provided, kat22. And it's only 2 1/2 inches wide. But thanks for the input!
That is a pill maker. You are missing the top piece.
Thank you, slackjack! You are absolutely right.
think u might be on right track regarding washing board but not for washing with i think it might be folk-art musical instrument something like a guiro or scraper
