1964 GI Joe Action Soldier Super Clean

Possibly my best buy of the day at the Rose Bowl. This is the "pat pending" version from the earliest days of GI Joe. One thing that detracts from the value of a GI Joe is hair rubs and stress cracks on the knees and elbows. And this one has no hair rubs or stress cracks.
Also this is the hard head joe made with plastic that shrinks so the head is smaller than the later joes. Thus his hat doesn't fit well.
The M1 carbine is aftermarket but I can live with that. The uniform is original GI Joe as is the backpack.
In the last two pictures you may see that GI Joes was based on a clothes mannequin. There was quite a bit of articulation although GI Joe had trouble holding anything other than the M1 rifle or carbine.
