Looking for some help identifying this item. I've had this since 2002. I found it on an old (1926) Trumpy Yacht that was being renovated. It was hidden behind a built in bed in one of the state rooms. Its made of metal, though I'm not certain of what metals. The top part with the heads appears to be some type of iron. The bottom appears to be zinc. There is a bimetallic reaction going on between the two. The top part has two Egyptian pharaoh heads, fairly detailed. It's approx. a foot long.
Something along the lines of a handle for a condiment tray. It may have been silver plated.

Something like:

my first thought too TA: handle from CHS (center handled server) or caster set
Thanks! I think you're spot on. Any suggestions on further identifying it, age, maker, etc...
There were two main periods of Egyptian revival, circa 1824 and circa 1922.

TA, I'm not seeing that. Your "staff" can't be right every time! Jacky is my boat person & right now, we r at odds. Trying to get a meeting of the "ends". In other words, I don't know.
I've fired those responcible just for good messure -- it keeps everyone in line. Ahhhh the smell of pink slips in triplicate on a Friday afternoon...
I doubt it's a navigation aid, meat tenderizer, Tupperware opener, or butter churn.

For example, Simpson Hall Miller & Co Wallingford, Conn., treble plate, Pat. Nov. 16, 1889, had this pattern, which if one looks at the handles, one can see a very close copy: http://p2.la-img.com/49/1868/797139_1_l.jpg

I've been googling things, and had come across that picture. Definitely a very similar pattern.
Also similar design: http://www.ebay.com/itm/VICTORIAN-SIMPSON-HALL-MILLER-TRIBLE-PLATE-EGYPTIAN-REVIVAL-SPOONER-FOOTED-POT-/321523264652?pt=Antiques_Silver&hash=item4adc47ac8c
I think I found it, the company and design anyway. Here is a tea set that looks almost identical: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Egyptian-Revival-Silverplate-Tea-Set-Bowman-Silver-Co-/281427691074?pt=Antiques_Silver&hash=item418665c642
TA, you have been reading too many of my comments! I see that & know that's not good for your mental health! LMAO. You may be right, but I can't quite see it & think it may be something else.
Sorry Trey, but this merde goes on between us sometimes. Welcome to CyberAsylum, aka CW! Click your heels and, - pray! LOL!!
The diff. metals thing really doesn't work well at all, especially around salt water. Hope you didn't buy the boat as you would curse that day very soon!
TA, I didn't get my pink slip & want one.
Ok, here it is. The exact piece: http://ancientpoint.com/inf/47508-antique_manning_bowman__co___272_cruet_caster_set_silver_plate_cranberry_glass.html
Good shoe that Trey! Now we know.
I kinda had a feeling ;)

Just wish I had the whole item in good condition...lol. Not sure what value just this piece has, other than just a curiosity.
I don't want to talk about it! LOL I get almost as many laughs on CW as I do watching the people in a Walmart when I visit the States!
