I'm a little confused on this one (disclaimer; still a novice collector here!) Advertisied as a 1948-1952 tray. Bought online. Comparing it to an original, here's what I know. Border rim is silver, Reg Us Pat Office under logo, RK Registered under logo on bottle and back is gray...all signs of an original. Here's what confuses me...the weight of the piece feels lighter than other trays I own from just a little earlier in the period which has me wondering if it's a fake. I'm certain it's not a repop but questioning if it was faked.

@Daddy - thanks for the link, I use that website. I guess maybe it's just some of the other trays I have feel a little different.

Metals are a commodity. Manufacturers and buyers have been reducing material as a way of increasing profit / controlling cost, even back in the 50's.

@Daddy to your point on diluting the commodity...so much so metal has turned into plastic in many cases...made in China. #Lame

Ever notice how Coke leaned toward redheads? I have.

Bb2 I've noticed that as well. And blondes... and brunettes...

Daddy, they used a few brunettes over the yrs., but leaned toward blondes & redheads & redheads seeming to be the preferred. Probably because of the redhead cinema idols of the early 1900's. Look back at the old trays & such. This is not my field, just something I happened to notice awhile back.

BB2 I have red hair and I am not on any cola trays :-)
I am not sure the women they used helped sell coca cola ya either love it or hate it . But their advertising idea's were outstanding .
