This baby doll has hinged arms and legs. She has red painted shoes. A very frail dress that has some soiling. It appears crocheted? I don't want to do much to it because it is so fragile. See pictures. She appears to be all painted, face hair etc. On her back going horizontally is stamped Germany at the end of the "y" running vertically are the numbers 21. My grandmother had her and she passed away at 82 about 10 years ago. Her parents were from Germany. I would like any information someone may have. I don't even know where to begin. She may not be anything special but I would like to know her history. She is 3 inches long.

She a all bisque doll and often referred to as a doll house doll in her size . Many many companies made these dolls and they were not always marked by maker . She dates early 1900s . They came in many qualities from a basic painted eye one like yours so one's with glass eyes and better quality bisque . So Prices vary on them by several factors . Very nice Heirloom you received to cherish. I doubt those are her original clothes so I would not be afraid to make her a new dress :-)

Thank you so much for your information. Do you know what the numbers 21 mean? She is so pretty and petite. I could take off her dress to have a better look at her markings. Any more information out there would be wonderful. I am not sure that it was always my Grandmothers or not. Just know her heritage background.

The number 21 refers to her mold size that they used in what ever company made her . If you undress her you may or may not see more possible to see another number which would be mold number or a symbol .

Thank you all for your input. One more question. Her outfit (the bottoms) do not want to come off as they are tight around the upper torso. Should I still try to take them off or is it best to leave them on? I may sell her so I want to keep her value the best that I can. Thank you all so much.

In my opinion it will not make a difference in price in her case , normally I would say leave them on but because the condition of her outfit is such a new owner would prefer a different outfit . Often I see these with tiny crochet dress's on.
