These tiny statues I think are gods of farming or fertility. I found the pair in a thrift shop. They looked pretty old even had dirt and dust on them but managed to get most of it off. They don't have any markings of a maker; so I really don't know where their origin is from. The bottom of them have an indentation where my thumb fits perfectly into. If anyone has any more information on these it would be appreciated.

Jim, sorry about the quality of the pics. I am using an old camera and the lighting in my house is not good for picture taking. I'll probably re-submit better quality pics of all my items in the future. Also, are these statues common pieces?

The figures I have seem to be made out of a red mud or so it seems. The dark brownish color might be due to when they put mud in heat to harden. Maybe?

I have two , one of them is a fisherman and the other I think is a carpenter. I'm pretty sure they are carved from bamboo, the bottom smells like grass and they are heavy for their size. I am also looking for the origin. On the bottom in pencil tiny numbers 6 & 7., so they may be part of a set. I also purchased mine at a second hand store.
