This has been handed down to me, all I know was it was my grandmothers and my mother is 83' so my guess it could be from the 1800's. Any help I would appreciate

Not sure what you mean by lying on atray, with out the shade just the base is 11 1/2 to 12 inches, it looks ceramic but not sure, I can't find a name on it
