This quaint decanter caught my eye and I had to go back and forth over and over again to the second hand dealer looking at it before I committed to purchasing it. The opening of the spout is very tiny, like it could be used for oil? Spanish motif...so really a mystery to me. Love its quaintness, does anyone have any ideas? thanks Blingiton1948
This is a Spanish porrón, and it's used to drink wine from it by pouring the liquid directly into your mouth... Although they're used today -not as much as it was before- this one you have is a fancy one covered in leather as a souvenir for tourists. And according to all the porrones I've seen and comented here at CW, they were very popular souvenirs from my country LOL
At the next link you can see the way it's used (pic. 4).: http://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/91021-porro-wine-pitcher-bengt-orup-johanfor
