Thanks Jim. but the designs on them look much more Chinese than Japanese?? they are pretty small even for sake.
i don't know about that jim. i still think it's more chinese than japanese. three claw dragons were used by the commoners in China too. but the combination w/ the rooster is what i don't get.
i think this is from the story of the rooster who leant his horn to the dragon in order to impress the emperor. the dragon was told he wasn't impressive because he didn't have a horn. the dragon impressed the emperor so much that he made him the lord of the sea. the dragon liked the horn so much, that he never gave it back to the rooster. it was the centipede who told the rooster to lend the dragon his horn, so the rooster has been going after the centipede ever since.
okay, i concede! you are probably right jwendell222. i've been told by another expert that these are DEFINITELY Japanese. me bad!
thanks jim.
I know they are chinese at the first glance. made in 1970-80s.
how so shrine? a couple other people said the same thing, only that they know that these are Japanese and older! i don't know what to think!
