I picked up this clock locally a little more than a week ago. It was a good fit for me having a small fencing and welding background on top of collecting Coca Cola. I got it fairly cheap but in need of repair, it only had one hand that didn't fit and the lights didn't work, understandable since the hands are open. The seller had acquired it from the iron shop owner himself. I believe it is meant to have a replaceable panel on the bottom rather than be painted directly on.
I took it apart for cleaning and ended up needing to replace and rewire a new ballast to get it to work. Remarkably the plastics are in good shape. The clock worked and I made three new hands for it out of aluminum. Another thing I decided to do was add a pull switch for the light. I notice many clocks are meant to be always lit which I'm not a big fan of. I enjoy it much more being able to have the clock run and turn on the light when I want to. Its a large piece if you notice the more common price brothers clock beside it. I enjoyed bringing it back.
Looks great robeo4 and nice job restoring functionality. It's in remarkable condition. The arciform (fishtail) logo piece looks wonderful, I imagine that is often damaged. Super piece.
Thanks, the logo being mostly red up close shows what looks like tiny rock chips, not alot, but a little, probably from using a buffing wheel and having sparks fly towards it, its pretty remarkable for it being in a shop and still being in good condition.
Looks great lit up!
Like it, displays well!
It's a big sucker. Industrial size.
Yeah it is. I havn't seen one online anywhere yet either. I has the regular small price brothers round decal and also a square one with some directions on service and also states that it is Coca Cola large illuminated ( changeable copy - pictorial) clock form no. 1-372. It would be nice to check out a price brothers catalog with all they had to offer for the arciform time period.
