I recently purchased this Jefferson Golden Hour clock from a consignment shop in Bellevue, WA. It is dated March 18, 1958. The hour hand gear assembly did not move freely on the shaft but the motor worked and the minute hand did rotate. I took apart the hour hand assembly and replaced the fiber washers with mylar washers .0145" thick. I lubricated the hour hand shaft and gears with silicone lube. I also replaced the cracked power cord and plug. Now it runs great and keeps perfect time. I don't think it was used much because the gears are in pretty good condition.

My grandparents had a clock just like that in their living room on top of the TV. I always thought it was really neat and now I have it. However, like yours when you bought it, the clock I have does not work. Thanks for posting the information on your repair - I will have to check those things on our clock and see it I can get it going again.
I used 1 mylar washer on the hour hand side and 2 mylar washers on the minute hand side. I used WD40 silicone spray on a Q-tip to lubricate the hour hand assembly. I hope this information helps.
