What is this? It appears to be a chicken on a large egg in a nest with a hole in its back for something. It weighs about 1-½ lbs. It is 7-½" tall and 5-¼" diameter at the widest part of the bottom. It appears to be pottery with a brown semigloss glaze. I am guessing it came from Central or South America. There are no markings on it. What is it? What is the hole in the back for? Is it old, or is it made as a tourist souvenir?

No, the eyes do not have holes all the way through to the inside.
