I inherited this from an associate of mine. I think it's a pretty old piece but not quite sure . It has numbers printed on the wood.I love the intricate details on this chair. I would love to get some wonderful feedback. The same person gave me a rocking chair that is over 70 years old,so I'm assuming this chair may have some age on it.

Looks.old as.the dark finish on it screams shellac. Has it got screws? How.are.the glue blocks (the part that is stamped) attached to the chair? Looks like the stamp.was.pressed by a modern machine.

Thanks CindiB. You have really given me a great start in researching my chair. I saw the chair that you posted as well and saw a lot of similarities. Do you use yours as sitting chairs only or at a table?

Hi there Bobcat38. The glue blocks are in great shape and very legible. The only screws are where the seat screws into the chair.. I did see some other numbers that where not stamped. It looked liked it was marked by hand showing where to connect the pieces. Is that common for an antique or most likely a reproduction ?

I'm really not.a.pro but screws were invented after 1700's. The 1700's were the peak of the original.chipendale period. It's got ball and claw feet, which is an early design, copied later in Edwardian Times.
The fact that it has machined and hand engraved marks could point to it being restored as.an antique in the past... partly original, partly old.
