Another post in the HP&S run - like some others, the letters are rubbed but the lozenge is quite a distinctive shape if 2/4 of the characters are visible as here.
This is hallmarked [c] for 1918, the last year of the First World War, and has alternating open and closed thistles engraved with diamond pen.
The base is a base white metal, probably aluminium, which would have been at enormous premium during the war, so has it been remounted? It is a diminutive 13.5cm high.
I am not too sure of a provenance - so any pointers would be appreciated.
Almost certainly remounted. An original mount would have been silver
I am not sure. I am certain all metal, precious or otherwise, would have been at a premium in 1918, assuming the rim is contemporaneous.
