This vase was found at a local antique market (one of those held at shopping malls twice a year) almost three years ago. The price cannot remember, but I think it was under 50 euros.

I found the vase as I was a couple of stands ahead and I knew I had seen it somewhere before, although I couldn't remember where: Miller's Glass of the '20s & '30s. A collector's guide. And so there it is, on page 14. And here's what they say about it:

    Loetz-style vase
    130s, ht. 21 cm/8in.
    50 to 150 pounds

With its bold design and its contrasting colours ths simple cased vase from Czechoslovakia could well be mistken for a pieceby Loetz. The technique used to produce it was very simmilar to that used to produce the genuine Loetz piece show left [and orange vase in Ausführung 157, just like Michelle's http://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/127587-loetz-ausfhrung-157--orange-yellow-an?in=666], although the decoration was made by drawing the black glass up to the glass rather than rolling it.
The clue to tghe origins of this piece lies in the finishing .the flat-cut top lacks the smooth rounded edge of the real Loetz piece. Nevertheless this remains a good example, very much in the style of the period, and without doubt more affordable than a vase by Loetz.

    . . . . . . . . . . .

It's funny how at this Miller's guide they only talk about Lötz and a few French and Scandinavian names -plus Monart- in the book... no Kralik, Harrach, etc, etc...

I was told by someone here at CW that this was a Harrach piece, although I've been unable to find more data to confirm it. So, so far, the file for this vase are kept in the Harrach folder.

Not sure why it should, CZECH. We've got some Lötz tango items with simmilar clear glass bases... plus our Harrach or Riedel tango tea set also has that thick clear glass base ( http://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/113520-bohemian-tango-glass-tea-set-ltz-har?in=collection-143 ). It's normal that having a clear glass outer layer the bases are sometimes thicker than average.

Thanks for looking and loving SEAN, VET, SKLO, AGH, CZECHMAN and MAC!!!
