This creamer/jug reminds me of some porcelain my grandmother used to have. The pattern is, if not exactly the same, very close to hers. So, here we go, even though I don't want to buy any more porcelain, I broke my own rule and bought it because of the pattern. I guess if one searches long enough, one will always come up with an excuse to expand a collection.
The creamer/ jug has an unusual size. It is too big as a creamer but too small as a jug. I haven't seen this size before.
The item is unmarked except for the number 57 and one other imprint. My photos are too bad and therefore I cannot make it out. I will have to check it at home.
The creamer/jug is in great condition except some wear on the gilded rim. If I had to guess I would say that it could be from the early part of the 1900's and possibly made in Europe. I have seen some "Made in China" items with a similar pattern but the quality of those items was very poor in comparison to my item. For that reason I don't think this is a recent import from this part of the world.
Thanks for looking:)
