This was a gift from someone who knew I collected "old stuff". It's in great shape and the only flaw that keeps it from original is that two of the wooden pegs have been replaced. But they are perfect replacements and other than a slight color difference in one of them, they match exactly. A truly unique piece. The age of the piece, I'm unsure of. I would guess 1915-1930? A wooden "hay" pitchfork would be a nice match for this piece. Anyone????
I think those were "hay rakes"
Thanks for the comment. You're probably right as from looking at the tool, it does not appear to be designed correctly for like, raking leaves and such. To me the "durability" factor is questionable. But the rake still looks super cool.
I have a wood hay rake , a wood pitch fork,a wood horse drawn snow plow,a 18ft flat blade boat oar.I believe the oar is called a steering oar and was used on the great lakes life saving boat off Tawas Point Michigan.
Very cool. Share some pics of all if you get the chance.
Sorry, don't have the abality to do that.Maybe can get my son to do it for me.
I also have a childs wagon with wood spoke wheels from around 1910 or so.Am thinking about puting it on ebay but worried about the shipping, such as costs and damages.
Hi,
I may be interested in anything like that, that you may want to sell. The key is, myself, or anyone else would have to see photographs of the piece/pieces before a deal could be struck. Just let me know. Thanks, Kerry
Kerry: you can contact me on my FB with a message.Lee Sayer
Hi Lee, I looked on face book. I'm assuming that's what you were referring to when you said to contact you. But there was someone from Leeds England and one other Lee Sayer with nothing there about him/you?? Best thing is probably just email me. My email is wkfine@yahoo.com Drop me an email and put Lee Sayer/Collectors Weekly in the "subject" box. That way I don't trash your email by accident. Sorry for not having got back with you before now but to be perfectly honest about it, I forgot all about it. I have been talking to a bunch of guys & gals here and many of them we just shared our emails and been doing it that way.
looks like a concrete rake
If you saw it up close in person you may question the strength of the wooden prongs/pegs. I've drug and pulled concrete many times and I think after about 5 minutes using this one for that, this rake may be a little on the "tired" and "broken down" side... But thank you for taking a peek and for posting a comment. I appreciate it.
