The history about this table is a fiction novel. It is without doubt the most antique piece of furniture we have. The owner was the best known argentine painter of birds Axel Amuchastegui http://www.panteek.com/LoveLife/pages/llb58-133.htm and the heirs let it in Dorita´s shop in consignation to be sold. We like it but we were not aware of how old it was and the origin. Sergio loves marquetry and I thought that because of this and the face it was from Florence Italy. After several month of saving money Sergio went to buy it. He gave Dorita the money and help her with a lamp, in doing so the lights went out and he realized that there were not a security swithch, so leave out to buy one. In the meanwhile Dorita order an orange juice from a nearby bar to celebrate the sale and pay in some way the favour Sergio was doing with the electric installation. When he came back Dorita was in despair the money was not there and the owner was coming to search it. She phone to the bar tender and told the holder the situation, and she found the money in the locker of the clerk that brought the juices to the shop. The marquetry has some losts but it is marvellous.
Quite a story. Sounds like home! Or anywhere now. Really beautiful piece & appears to be in great condition for its age. Envy shows?
Can you post a photo of the underside of the piece? I would like to see the construction/ leg and top joint.
