My teen daughter has acquired this 1942 vintage naval yeoman patch. She would like it attached to her military style jacket. I was hoping to find someone here, with knowledge/ expertise, that could tell me the proper cleaning method for this. (or direct me to such info) Thank you.

hard to tell fabric used from photos. but looks like maybe wool. Original issue of dress blues back in the day was 100% wool and recommended dry cleaning. Something like Woolite might work, but check with your local laundry/dry cleaner.

should have asked what kind of fabric is she planning to attach the patch to?

Thanks for info. Jacket is thicker cotton (similar to army duffel) but has black "leather" patches on elbows. Will be washed delicate, hung dry.

these patches are also available in cotton, as well as other manmade fabric. Tho' this one should be okay if cleaned like most delicate items.

US NAVY R3 YEOMAN corporal,Yeoman perform administrative and clerical work. They deal with protocol, naval instructions, enlisted evaluations (Evals), commissioned officer fitness reports (FitReps), naval messages, visitors, telephone calls and mail (both conventional and electronic). They organize files and operate office equipment and order and distribute office supplies. They write and type business and social letters, notices, directives, forms and reports

This would have been attached to a Petty Officer's "Dress Blues." They were usually wool, but could be a Gabardine wool fabric if the uniform was custom made. We'd always have our dress blues dry-cleaned. Thus, I'd recommend unless the coat this one will be attached to is going to be dry cleaned in the future, that you simply sew it on and leave it as the colors might bleed if machine washed. Perhaps hand wash in Wollite if necessary to clean.
