Very nice! Looks victorian with the c-clasp and tubehinge but it's hard to be completly sure. I have a Norweigan enamel brooch with those details and it's probably midcentury. But the style of yours could indeed mean that this is a old brooch.

Thank you Elisabethan! I love brooches, they are my favorite! There is something very "crude" about this one. Other brooches I have with the same features seem more refined somehow. I'm sure the stones are paste stones. Thank you for your lovely comments =)

Kyratango, do you have any thoughts on this brooch? It is really quite unrefined, but charming for it

Gracias amiga =) I think it's fascinating, I don't believe I will ever wear it, but love it nonetheless =) Hope you are well!

Sorry to have loved my own item, but wanted to see if anyone had any more ideas about it :)

hey why wouldn't we love our posts? It is not forbidden (hope so!)?

Your brooch's back is very close to victorian mourning brooches like this one:

      http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Antique-Victorian-Gold-Enamel-Memento-Mourning-Glazed-Back-Brooch-circa-1850-/131300042053?pt=UK_Jewellery_Watches_VintageFineJewellery_CA&hash=item1e9217a545

So I guess Victorian around 1860. But I'm surprised by the fact the face is concave, so perhaps yours is a marriage of 2 elements, from a back of this type of brooch and another decorative motif rived to it.

Ahhh wow! Thank you Kyra! The back is so similar! You're great! The face is concaved and the decorative part is held in place by that wire that is wrapped behind through the two holes. Thank you for the time period and the great info =)

      You're very welcome, it's my pleasure :-)
