Hi nutsabot, It is difficult at first, but now I have a feel for it. What I do lay the piece on a paper towel and spray a little 409 on it and it will turn yellow if bakelite. But normally I don't carry it with me, so I never overpay! The red one was $20 and the black one was $10 and the seller was certain and she has seen me before and knows that I know everybody!!! :D
Do you ever go to flea markets where the seller has all bakelite? Go talk to them for awhile, they know everything there is to know about bakelite! =)
