I recently purchased this Loetz Pink Medici at auction. It was listed as and marked Tiffany, but I thought that was a spurious signature and was actually Loetz. When it arrived, I was pleasantly surprised at the colors which are amazing in person. It's a nice size measuring 6 1/2" x 6 1/2" and is in excellent condition. Thanks to Alfredo for helping I.D the piece.

I almost went for this but I'm so sick of Loetz pieces with fake Tiffany signatures. These fakers should all be shot at dawn !
      Beautiful vase however.

Thank you LoetzBuddies. I'm new to collecting Loetz, so at this point the signature doesn't bother me. I'm just happy to buy one.

I was supposed to go to that auction, but ended up not going, and I would have bid on it. I guess you were meant to have it, Rick. Congrats. It's the identical shape as my PG 377, which I bought 2 years ago at that same auction.

I believe I was the under-bidder on this one. I was wondering if it would make a reprise :) Very nice piece, glad you're happy with it.

I started collecting Loetz for re-sale and myself in the late 70's - early 80's. I loved the "finishes" and the affordable prices. Occasionally, here would be "fake" signatures added; reducing the re-sale prices. Most of the Loetz was never signed; at least my research told me that. Hence, even the "signed" pieces often showed up in order to increase the price. As time went along, I did the same thing with Schneider Glass (Le Verre Francais) at the same time. Few dealers knew what they had, thinking it was Czech from the 1930's. Now, I have sold off nearly all of the pieces and watch the auctions to see when they turn up and over!! I have noticed in recent years that SOME of the Art Glass pieces have dropped back to 1979 prices (wholesale and retail) and some have recovered from the 1981 "high"; dropped and are now selling for those early 1980's prices. A few have finally exceeded the last "high point". Anyone else experience these price changes?

Thanks so much for the quick bio Rosemary, and welcome to CW... I haven't been a Loetz glass collector for long, so my only guide to price fluctuations comes from past auction sales. However, I have seen and felt the drop in Murano art glass prices. Even now, pieces that I would sell for X amount only a few years ago, command much less today. The bright side is you can get these pieces at auction for much lower than before, so I guess it's all relative. I hope with time things turn around. Also, thanks for the love Caper and Aura.

      Interesting about the signature.

      Thanks Rosie and Bill.

@Bill... Unfortunately, as with any form of art, you find items with fake signatures. This is the first Loetz I've seen with a Tiffany signature. Typically you find a fake "Loetz Austria" signature on these pieces.
