I found this in Goodwill yesterday. I don't know how old it is, but it's been around awhile, by the little knicks around the base. there's a tiny label in the middle which has been worn down to the point that nothing is visible on it. the inside smells like marijuana, so i know what it's been used for!
it measures about 4 inches square x 2 inches tall.
i'm assuming it's Asian, probably Chinese. any ideas?
I have a box that looks like this and also a tray--the items I have are like a lacquered paper mache and the tray is marked Japan. Hope this helps! =)
I did a search and most are saying India on boxes like this and saying "vintage." Cool find!
yes, that's it Jewels - lacquered papier mache. japan? india? china? or where?
I was lucky enough to have a trip to India years ago, and brought back some of these to give to friends.
So, would say India, agree with lacquered papier mache.
That's awesome Kyra! India, fabulous!
Hi ho2, I have one similar. I'll post it when I get the time :) Its very flowery & lacqured like yours. At first I thought it would likely be Japanese but found similar ones from India so I don't know :-S
thanks Vintagefran and FanciGirl! and Jewels! and Kyratango!
