A friend of mine acquired this from cleaning out a neighbors garage. Two hours of Googling Crown Gasoline came up with two matching results, but neither gave much information about the history of the sign. It's a two sided porcelain sign with a 90 degree bend on one end for hanging purposes, measuring 26" x 26" less the 90 degree bend. The edges have some corrosion & a couple spots around the "Standard Oil Company" have some corrosion which look like they were due to impurities in the metal. We are really looking for a opinion on if it's worth selling or just hanging it in our garage! I can't figure out what it's worth!
Nice piece, standard oil company is very collectable. When I have a mystery piece, I also run a search for private collectors and dealers online. Have found that most people are very willing to help.
Keep it,your chances of finding another are slim too none! And heed 50s advice!
What does the other side look like? I have one just like this
