When I saw this vase at a Flea Market today, I was sure that it was a Fenton item but once I saw the number 203 in the base (looking in), I wasn't so sure. We have larger vases in Blue Opalescent Swirl that are Fenton and the color and swirl look very much like this one. Numbers in glass are often seen in bottles and patented glass but is rare in pressed opalescent glass. Is this Bohemian or British glass?.....did Fenton do trial patterns for their wares and number them this way? This little vase measures 3 3/4" tall by 5" across and has a small pedestalled base. Thanks everyone, RER(BOB)

Anyone know about the number in the base?

Fenton made lamp shades like this and 'sometimes' the bottom didn't get cut out, resulting in vases; not certain about this one, but a possibility.

Thanks Tallcakes! It is so similar to my other FentonVases that I too suspect that it's a Fenton piece. Hope some Fenton Collectors weigh-in. The shade idea is certainly a possibility. BOB

there is a very similar looking #203 vase in the 1950 Fenton catalog

Hi Tallcakes! I looked at the 1950 catalog on-line and I saw the Coin Dot pattern vase in this exact shape as being their number 203 so there certainly is a precedent for this shape being the 203 in Swirl also. Thanks for that lead. BOB
