Hello all, I am trying to find out any information at all about my old clock.
It was my fathers and he has had for as long as i can remember,i took possession of it when he passed away in 1997 and i had it repaired sometime ago but have since been trying to find out about it.....i have found nothing so far other than the numbers 156 on the bottom of the face.
I would love to find out its model name, year and if its worth anything (i am in Australia). I will never get rid of it and it works quite well.
    Thankyou,shane.

      Hi,
Your heirloom New Haven clock is called the "Knight" firce circa 1913. Originally listed for $32 back then. Equivalent to about $770 in 2014. One sold for $650 (plus buyer's premium) at auction but that was back in 2006. See: http://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/1948506

I don't see many examples of this clock online. That's not to say that it's rare but I think it's fair to say that it is not common. Rarity, condition and originality means a lot as far as value in the collector's market is concerned. Here's one which sold for $375 in 2008. http://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/5711655: It had many cracks in the porcelain dial, the Knight was missing his sword and the clock had been refinished. The fact that it is not a commonly seen model is probably why it sold for that much.

It seems to me that clock prices tend to be a little higher in Australia than they are currently in the U.S.

For whatever it may be worth, Tran Duy Ly appraised this model at $800 but that was back in 2000. Prices have tended to decline since then. Sounds like its value to you is priceless.

If you have anymore questions let us know, if not, please indicate that your mystery has been solved in your listing.

Thanks for sharing your heirloom with us.

Oh wow, fascinating info but i forgot to mention that this clock has a plaque on it because it was given to a school preacher for his invaluable work and the clock was a gift and the date reads 1/7/1908 so it must be older than 1913?

Okay, that's why I said "circa". The information that I provided comes from a reprint of a 1913 catalog. The clock could have been available several years before or after that date. Any other questions?

You're very welcome. I'm glad they confirmed all of the information I gave you over on the NAWCC website. If you want them to provide value information you'll need to subscribe to the paid areas. It would be interesting to see if they come up with a different value. hasta la vista
