Not sure what this is - In my family for 25 years not sure where before

I'm so glad I found this site, I've had this for almost 25 years, given to me by a family member (not sure how long she had owned this)
The numbers on the base (which has patina'd) are MP375A and there is a small stamp of a co. name?

I just want to know the name of the manufacturer and date of mfg.
