This item appears to be made of silver. As with other items I've posted, this was in a box of keepsake items which had belonged to my father.
My father had been in Italy during the second World War, this item may have come from there.
Sweet little token from your father. I have seen that image in a painting before, but cannot think of the name of the painting or artist--might be a lead...I call it thinking angel, maybe. It does look silver, hope you find an answer =)
Raphael's thinking angel! But I couldn't find anything like this
You find the angels on the bottom of the painting: Sistine Madonna. I love that painting so much because my mom had a print of it in her bedroom for many years but then she gave it away to her sister. I asked her to find me a new print and I had it framed here. It's hanging in my living room now; the print of course, not the painting LOL
My wife grew up in Italy. She told me that this was an immage in a painting which she has seen.
I have not been able to find another one like this. My guess is, when my father was stationed in Italy during the war, he purchased it there.
Thanks all for your comments.
How do I know if it's made of Silver?
You have to have nitric acid tested. But be careful when testing.
