GrandmasOf…

I am trying to identify my husband's grandma's rocker. It is solid wood (someone poorly refinished it before we got it). It has metal "coil brackets" that wood bars sit in to hold up the seat. She lived in the French Quarter, till almost 100 years old till she was killed in a robbery. Her husband was a merchant marine. So the rocker could be from a local company or from somewhere abroad that he purchased in the late 1800's or early 1900's.
Excuse the expression but these were called butt pincers. The seat boards ran left to right rather than front to back. When you sat down the crack in the seat opened and when you went to get up the crack in the seat closed and you got your butt pinched.
