These are Barclay USA soldiers with tin hats. I bought them at a flea market. There was a man shopping at the booth which had a ton of these and he told me he has more than 500 of these! I showed him the 2 I was getting and he said I had a good eye for someone who hadn't seen these before. Some had moulded hats, but these have little tin hats nailed on and that's why I chose them. I do have some other Barclay figures, like skiers and ice skaters and such. Thanks for looking!
Well done Julie! They looks great!
Hi VV! Thank you!
They look like they were modeled after WW I US soldiers or Marines!
Maybe they had a standard body model, and painted them in the uniform colors of different Nations, and nailed a hat or helmet on peculiar to that Country?
Good morning Ted! I am not sure of the history, I'm going to look it up. I know they also made ice skaters and skiers (I have some) which are cute. Hope you are well!
You are a true historian, J….! i'm doing well, and hope that you are, too!
HA, yes T, I am always looking into stuff! Glad you're well! =)
Fascinating stuff about these soldiers Ted! They were sold in 5 and dimes for a nickel a piece.
Brings back memories of the little plastic "army guys" my brothers and I played with as kids, but these are much more nice to say the least. Let your son know these are super sweet to play with especially when one ties bottle rockets to them.
Haha, well, I will admit that your figures would look good staring up at fort apaches s and m scene :)
