Actually this is my great grandfather and great grandmother on a special occasion about 1900. I love the chair he is sitting in and would like to know more about it and actually try to find one like it. The photo was from about 1900 outside Chicago, IL. Wish I had picture by itself but this is the only one I have. I have no clue of style either but both came from Norway & Sweden so it could have come with them or not. Any help/ideas would be appreciated.

    Sincerely,

    Mark

Neat looking chair-- the figural head is interesting (griffin/ dragon/ lion??). It appears that on the other side it has broken off.

Photo looks like a studio shot-- a full picture may confirm.

If that is the case, then the chair is most likely a studio chair vice something your relatives owned.
