    I have researched this and this is the information I have found.

    It was made by Stevens, smart and dunham during 1883-1886 in Portland Maine.
    18lbs
    17in tall 32in diameter

    I cannot figure out what it is.
    Any Idea????

      Originally I was thinking the same but it appears to have never been near heat the interior is beautiful. It does have a drain hole on the bottom.. I'm thinking now that the outer part is meant for ice?....ice cream,,, wine?? Its beautiful and ornate.
