All metal clock. Base is 21". Clock is 14". Violinist is 17 1/2".
Bow not shown is in excellent condition. This clock has been passed down through 3 generations in a Yarmouth, Nova Scotia family.

Hi Linda,
You have a New Haven "Lulli" from circa 1889. The Bronze finished clock originally listed for $41. It also came in a Silver Finish which listed for $43. A LOT of money in those days. Not very common I think.

Forty-Three dollars in 1889 would have been the equivalent of $1,121 in 2014. Tran Duy Ly's "Book Value" for a pristine, original example in good running order was $950 in 2000. Even in relatively poor economic times, rare clocks tend to hold their value, so go from there.

P.S. It appears as though your example may have been refinished at some point in the past. Hard to tell for sure without seeing an original example but bronze and silver were the two original finishes mentioned in my reference. Refinishing does tend to lower the value in the collectors market even though it is done well.
