    It's from timber country in the Pacific Northwest
    Hand forged iron 8 1/2" long
    The fatigue at the eyelet suggests some heavy licks from the sledge

      I suspect this would be an "eye" that would be hammered into a tree either for rigging cable or rope as part of a logging operation, or into log for repositioning or dragging (skidding) the log.

      I do remember now. I don't know how I came by it, but I remember being a young choker setter for a High Lead logging show and we would pack 3 or 4 of those when ever we would set up a new road to yard.

      That looks like a ''Dog"" I use to use when walking log in the pond or river ,A chain connected 2,dogs . one dog on one end in the end of 1 log another on the end of another creating an chain of logs to corral the others from getting away . Don
