This 6" bowl is one of Copeland Spodes "Italian" versions ..
if you look carefully you can see two shepherds , one kneeling near the water ( did one of his sheep fall in ???) Also theres a lady sat in what looks like a cave reading a book or letter (surely not texting anyone lol:-)) )
A castle in the background & I think a drawbridge ..
I have a few Copeland bowls but this one is slightly different !!
I wonder what the story is ??
thanks aghcollect & vetraio50 for the loves ;-]
Thanks mikelv85 & racer4four for your loves :-))
surfdub66, the current pattern by Spode is called "Blue Italian." Your older, Copeland Spode "Italian" bowl "was based on a Claude Lorraine pastoral landscape of 1638 and is surrounded by a border copied directly from a Chinese piece," according to the Spode Exhibition Online.

Here is a print of Claude Lorraine's c. 1638 pastoral landscape [with ruined temple], courtesy of art dot com:

Correction:
The artist's name, Claude Lorrain, is misspelled above in both instances. The correct spelling is LORRAIN without an "e." His birth name was Claude Gellée:
