Picked up this sign recently at a local auction. There was two of them and I was hoping to get both but quickly realized I would be lucky to get one. I had to step way out of my comfort zone on price. I think it was a room full of general sign collectors. It probably wasnt a great investment item but still looks good and I got the cheaper of the two. Ive seen where these are mounted back to back and hang off the side of a building to be visible from both sides. It comes in at about 3ft by 4ft 9". After a good cleaning we decided we may as well personalize it so we had some letters printed large on a magnet then cut them out so that we can add the lettering without hurting the sign. I think I may do the same later on another privilege sign, it works good.
Wow that looks spectacular and great idea with the magnets. The fishtail dates it to be 1958-1963 thereabouts. Great sign!
Is this a porcelain sign?
I hate to be negative, but I question this sign's age.
I've never seen raised lines behind this (or any) coca cola logo.
If it's not porcelain, then it seems like it would be a very thin metal.
I'll certainly apologize if I'm wrong, or if it can't be proven either way.

TGBWC - I 'm waiting for the prints to come back from Jiffy-Lube...

Thanks Nobucks.
I dont mind the questions, for all of us the more we see and know, the more we learn. Although I had never seen it before I never questioned that that it may not be old. Everything looks good to me.
I got beat to adding the ebay link but yes there is one there shown in aged condition and still attached and displayed as double sided. The sign isnt porcelain but its pretty strong. Its flanged on the ends, ribbed on the side of the logo and has two ridges along the edge where it goes green to white, I dont have any wood behind it.
Nice sign! Looks like NOS.
"Remember that a lot of the fishtale stuff showed up as plants were sold in the 70's and 80's so there are a lot of really good condition 60's items out there."

Also, Red_red, I'm a little disappointed you chose to come out of semi-retirement to question such an obviously authentic sign (high quality, trademarked, maker marked, etc.). I thought your reemergence would be a little more subtle. You've collected Coca-Cola through the years, right? Are you stirring the pot? After two years, I simply can't wait to see the archival images of your collection after you get them back from Jiffy Lube. Bring it.
Thank you kid. I didnt know it would be controversial.
Drink' was changed to 'Enjoy' in 1969 if that helps, mand fishtail changed to the Arden Square' logo
..if that helps at all ?
